Absences

What happens if I miss a day of class?

Life happens!  If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to check Schoology for assignments and activities that you missed.  You will have a happier teacher if you check Schoology ahead of time, instead of coming back to class after an absence and asking, “What did I miss?”

• Ignites : If you are absent, you are excused from the day’s Ignite.

Will late work earn credit?

Late Ignites will earn partial credit.  After two days, Ignites may be “locked” and no credit may be earned.

Late homework will earn partial credit until the retake period for a unit has ended.

Late labs can earn full credit until the retake period for a unit has ended.  However, in special cases it may be necessary to complete an alternate lab to earn a grade.

If you miss an assignment due to an absence, please speak with Mr. Jones about the due date for that assignment, including tests and labs.

There will usually be a two-week retake period after each unit test.  After this retake period, no credit will be earned for the assignments of the unit.  This includes labs, formative assessments, and homework.
